Your next step of faith may be one of inward transformation. Paul tells us, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world. Instead, be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." (Romans 12:2). As we let the Holy Spirit shape our minds, we become more open to acting in accordance with the abundant life that Jesus promised. In this series, Rev. Smith will discuss principles for letting the Holy Spirit transform our minds. This process enables us to become more Christlike. Join us each week and take a practical step by inviting the Holy Spirit to renew your mind this week.
September 7 – Christ Lives in Me – Galatians 2:15-21
The overarching goal of transformation is to become a vessel of Christ. Not that we lose our personality, but we find the perfect fulfillment of our personality in allowing Christ to flow through us.
September 14 – You Are Handpicked by God – 1 Peter 2:4-12
As a follower of Christ, your core identity is in Christ. We’ll examine some key metaphors that help us understand who we are as a church community and as individual followers of Jesus: the chosen people, the kingdom of priests, and the holy nation.
September 21 – Search Me and Know Me – Psalm 139:1-24
When we open ourselves to God, we find he searches us and knows us completely. In his examination, he consistently affirms his love for us, while also revealing what we may need to prune from our lives.
September 28 – Fill Your Mind with Goodness – Psalm 119:97-112
To transform our minds, we need to fill our minds with the goodness of scripture. We’ll examine the essential habit of meditating on God’s word and storing it in our minds.
October 5 – Practice Being Still – Psalm 46:1-11
When we practice being still in the rhythms of Abiding daily, weekly, and on occasional retreats, we discover that God is moving in mighty ways all around us. We can release our anxieties and fears, knowing that God will accomplish His purposes.
October 12 – Embrace Christ’s Mission – Matthew 28:16-20
As our minds are transformed, we come to realize that we’ve been invited to be part of a great worldwide mission of growing the Kingdom of God. We are Christ’s ambassadors every day, empowered and sent to invite people to follow Jesus and help them take their next steps of faith.
October 19 – Live a Naturally Supernatural Life – Ephesians 1:15-23
The power that raised Jesus from the grave is the same power that lives and works in us. As our minds are transformed, we can look with hope and expectation, recognizing what God is doing around us and cooperating with his work.
October 26 – This Great Cloud of Witnesses – Hebrews 11:1-16 and 12:1-3
All the saints of the past lived in hope. Their witness encourages us as we run our own race of faith.
